Carbon Pro Fluorocarbon Line
Ive been using Seaguar's Carbon Pro fluorocarbon line for about two months and am really surprised at its longevity.
I first put it on the equipment that I use for tournament fishing. It should be noted that I always change the line on all of my tournament gear before the tourney begins, and then each night of the tourney. I was really surprised at how tough this stuff is. I used it around bridge pilings, riprap filled with zebra mussels and various wood type structures. It is extremely abrasion and stretch resistant.
Another thing that surprised me was how well it cast. Granted, I didnt put it on any spinning equipment, but it did cast as well as the mono that I was using prior to Seaguar.
Next, I put it on the equipment that I let my clients use. I knew that this would be the true test as I have a tendency to leave the line on the reel a little longer than for my tournament gear. Also, the equipment is not stored as delicately as my favored tourney gear. This too proved to be a pleasant surprise.
I was not too informed about how fluorocarbon would react with the environment, but soon found out that it did not deteriorate as the monofilament had in the past. Before taking out a client, I now just tie the line to a tree and give it a couple of good stretches (see my tips page) to eliminate some of the coiling, and it is as good as new.
