Carolina Rigging a Floating Tube

I use a Carolina rigged floating tube often for Lake Erie smallmouth and it catches alot of fish when the wind kicks up. I use 20 Seaguar fluorocarbon line for the main leader because I need the stretch resistance and abrasion resistance that it offers as well as the invisibility that it has.

I then use a 1 oz. bullet sinker made of brass on top of a glass bead with a brass two way swivel. This is a standard carolina rig.

Next, I use a 3 to 6 foot leader of 10 lb. fluorocarbon attached to a 3/0 straight shank hook. I then take a tube and stuff it with some 1/4 inch diameter foam insulation that I buy at the local hardware store and rig it on the hook with the hook point exposed. The hook will ride with the point down, which is o.k. because it will hook the fish in the lower jaw.
