| EZ KnotTM How-To - Loop Knot | |

|
Loops are used for many applications in fishing, most commonly for attaching lures and hooks. This is done with the sliding loop knot. The fixed loop knot is sometimes used for lures, but it is mostly used for the making of pre-tied leaders. To make a fixed loop you first need to tie a stop knot about ten inches from the end of the line. This is the standard knot tied on the EZ KnotTM. Use two to four wraps around the tool.
This sliding loop is also excellent for attaching your line to your reel spool. Most conventional knots used for this purpose fail way below the breaking strength of the line, so if you ever get spooled by a fish, you will lose it unless you make a loop knot with the EZ Knot. When attaching line to a spinning reel spool, tie the knot with a very large loop first, trim the tag end, and then slide the loop over the spool. Pull the loop down tight and you are set. On bait casting reels, run the line through the level wind, around the spool, and back through the level wind before tying the knot. Then trim the tag and pull the loop up tight. Don't worry about making the loop too large as they will all pull down, so give yourself plenty of line to work with and the job will be "EZier." | |
