Chris Caris
Caris Memorial on Old Hickory Lake, Saturday Nov. 17
Friends of Chris Caris who wish to pay their respects are invited to a memorial service from noon to 2 PM at Shute Branch Recreation Area beside Old Hickory Lake.
SWL Prostaff Member Slain in West Nashville Robbery
About 10 PM, Friday October 26, Caris and Bellacinos employee Joshua Cole, 18, were brutally killed during a restautant hold-up. Details of the crime were reported in local television on Saturday and in The Tennessean on Sunday. [Since this report was posted, two suspects have been arrested.]
Chris was a popular figure on the middle-Tennessee fishing scene. According to Joe Haubenreich, SWL President, Chris joined the SWL Prostaff on January 12, 2006 and not only represented our brand on the water and in the community, but he was a well-liked and effective promoter at the Nashville Fishing & Turkey Hunting Expo as well.
Our prayers go out for his family and friends.Chris was an asset to us, and we appreciated the enthusiasm he poured into both his fishing and the marketing he did for us, said Haubenreich.
Any time someone is the victim of a senseless, heinous murder, it is a tragegy. For someone in the prime of life, it is doubly so. Originally from Michigan, Chris quickly adapted his fishing style to Old Hickory and J. Percy Priest reservoir. The bass he is shown with below was one Chris caught on the Machickanee Flowage in Wisconsin.
Chris, rest in peace.
Read Chris Cariss obituary and express your condolences online at the Crandell Funeral Home Website.
Memorial services were conducted in Freemont, MI and beside Old Hickory Lake in Nashville. In lieu of flowers, the Caris family has requested that donations be made to the Freemont Area Community Foundation, a charitable trust that serves needs in Chriss home town. Fishing Tips & techniques: During the cold winter months, where water temperatures are in the 40s, try using a slow falling jig, like the Hammer Head, D.B. Series, hair jig. Key in on bluffs and bends in the river and/or creek channels. I like to tip my jig with a green pumpkin or avocado colored tiny chunk and throw it on 6-lb. fluorocarbon with a fast action, medium power G-Loomis spinning rod. Work your jig down the shelves of the bluff and then swim it back to the boat. Most of your fish will hit when the jig is falling so when swimming it back to the boat, be sure and make a few pauses to let the jig fall a bit. Good luck, and see you on the water!
