Steve Huber
Hometown: Rhinelander, Wisconsin
Occupation: Host, Outdoor Frontiers multimedia, Bass and Muskie Guide (G&S Guide Service), EMT (Emergency Medical Technician)
Sponsors: Secret Weapon Lures, Fast Cat Boats, Flying Fisherman Sunglasses), Lowrance Electronics, Go To Bait Company, Forge Archery Company
Home Lakes: Boom Lake, Lake Mohawksin, Wisconsin River
About Steve: Married to a VERY understanding woman, father of five, grandfather of two lovely little girls with a grandson on the way. Steve loves the outdoors. Fishing (it doesnt really matter for what, but bass and muskies are his favorites), hunting big and small game with rifle, pistol, muzzleloader and bow, there really isnt a time of year that you wont find Steve on the water or in the woods. And if there isnt a season open locally, Steve is willing to travel anywhere in the world to find something to chase.
A guide for 15 years now in northeastern Wisconsin, I love to teach clients tactics and techniques that they can take with them and try on home waters. Its this love of sharing information that led to the formation of OutdoorFrontiers.com, an online magazine with question/answer forums, photo gallery and articles. This has led to a new and exciting development, the formation of OutdoorFrontiers Multi-Media, a television production company producing Steve Hubers OutdoorFrontiersTV, a show devoted to sharing information about the outdoors.
Tips & Techniques: Versatility and adaptability are the keys to success in the outdoors.
There arent too many times when you can sit and let everything come to you, you have to make things happen. Thats why I love my Secret Weapon lures.
When fish are active, theres nothing better than a spinnerbait, and theres no better spinnerbait on the market than Secret Weapon. I can change blades and skirts to meet changing conditions for wind, water color, sky (overcast/sunny), depth control and lure speed. Id rather fish for active fish, using my Secret Weapon as a search bait, covering huge amounts of water in a hurry. Then, when contact is made and the active biters are caught in the area, thats when I pick up a rod rigged with either a fluke or stick type bait. After all the active biters are caught, Ill work the area through again with soft plastics. Its amazing how many fish can be in one area! I always have a rod lying on the deck, rigged and ready with one of the aforementioned lures. That way, if a fish swings and misses my Secret Weapon, Ill toss that plastic right into the swirl, letting it fall slowly. Youd be amazed at how many more fish youll hook up with in the course of a season!
